five → full moon the moon is so huge! just don't look too long, it's really bright too.

eight → planet sighting is that a new star? nope, just a neighbor in the solar system!

I am not going to lie to make people like me better.
[ Misa wanted to be herself. Show business was already so fake as it is. It was all an illusion and you just don't know what is real anymore.
It is to make their fans happy. Everything they do is already for the fans. They stay skinny for the fans, they stay young for the fans, they change their appearance for the fans. Surgery, makeup, stylish clothes. If they didn't have these, they would lose their popularity.
Why can't they make wishes for themselves?
Not that she hated what she was doing --- she loved it, but in the end their job is really to keep customers pleased
After a moment of quietness, she returned to her cheerful demeanor and began teasing him. ]
Your wish is pretty hard you know ... I don't know if Mr. Star can work on that by himself. Light is going to need lots and lots and lots of stars!

I never said you should lie to make people like you.
[For himself though? The desire to make the world a better place is largely genuine. He sees the way his mother worries about his father, and about Sayu, and if there was a way to take that worry and banish it to the farthest reaches of the galaxy forever, he'd do it in a heartbeat. Besides, if they're going to wish, shouldn't it be for the big and the grandiose? He'd always been taught to dream big, and reach for the stars. You can do anything, Light-chan! You're so smart, I'm sure you could be anything that you wanted!
Promising prospects and high hopes. As fascinating as space exploration and studying nebulas could be, Light already knows where his future will take him and it's law enforcement, just like his father. So he can catch bad guys and make the world safe for good people, too.
But just as quickly, Misa's attitude shifts and she goes from brooding to cheerful so quickly that Light is more confused by the whiplash than he is annoyed by the teasing]
I won't need any stars. Wishes are for those who can't make their dreams come true.

Misa knew that she probably opened a topic she shouldn't have. Having a problem with something she loved doing was not a very 'Misa-chan' thing to do. So she just pretended not to hear it and pretend to be distracted by all the pretty stars. ]
Are you always this serious, Light? You know ... we're kids. It is alright to dream. That's the fun part after all. When we're big is the hard part. While Misa is still a kid, she wants to have fun.
Misa's mama says that when Misa is big enough and pretty enough, it is going to be lots and lots harder ... even though it is fun now.
[ She turns to Light and smiled as she continued to tease him. ]
Smile, Light. It doesn't hurt ---

[ She suddenly remembers what they were talking about earlier. How could she have forgotten that? ]

And what's with the assumption that Light doesn't know how to have fun? Of course he knows how to have fun.
He hates it when people misunderstand him or misinterpret the things he says. it upsets him because grownups patronizingly tend to blame it on Light himself —Oh, you should have explained it this way!— when he secretly feels that it's because adults don't like listening to children. But given the fact that Light's well mannered and respectful to adults, he's never had the chance to voice that opinion. Misa, however, is not an adult, and he's about to say what's on his mind.]

Misa has remembered that horrible discussion about conceiving earlier, and Light still does not want to talk about babies and where they come from and- no, he flat out refuses to go into that when she has needled him to this degree. Misa doesn't get to spew words at him without listening to Light's point of view in return. He bites back the bulk of his annoyance to speak in his best diplomatic tone.]
You don't listen very well, do you? I don't need wishes and stars to make my dreams come true because I'm going to make that happen all by myself.
[And because he truly believes in what he's saying, there's a healthy amount of pride coming through in this explanation. He grins confidently, like he knows the answer to everything, then continues.]
Besides, I have plenty of fun. We just like different things and there's nothing wrong with that.
[Even though there is everything wrong with what Misa seems to find fun, Light is at least aware of how hypocritical that would sound if he actually said that out loud.]
Why don't you try looking in a dictionary if you want to know so badly? Maybe you'll find that fun, too. You never know.

... then again, she didn't like that look he wasn't giving her either. It made her feel like she was stupid. Which was weird because all he was doing was smile. Maybe she just found it a little annoying because it was such a know-it-all smile and he was so much younger than her!
But at the same time, it was just so ... cute.
Misa stood up from her seat and stood in front of Light. Both hands on her side. ]
You just said so yourself, didn't you? We have different ideas of fun. Dictionaries aren't Misa's idea of fun.

Rather than scooting backwards on the bench, this time Light sits up a little straighter like he's about to stare down a rattlesnake. Privately, he's annoyed that he has to look up to make eye contact with her.]

[ Who would like being alone? Misa loved attention and loved making people happy. That was what made her happy. She hated not being the center of attention. And because she was so cute she had a lot of it. She couldn't imagine not having a lot of it.]
Well ... maybe not scared! But Misa doesn't like being alone. Mommy said it is dangerous because Misa is so cute.

Feeling oddly guilty about this lack of foresight even though he shouldn't because wishing on stars doesn't work anyway, Light makes a quick secret wish for all three of them.]

her new friendLight. She began putting her things and snacks away. She had to get back before her parents notice that she was gone. Her mother wouldn't be happy that she stayed up late before a photoshoot. ]I didn't know what you want ... so I just told Mr. Star that I wish all your dreams come true!

But his wish isn't that complicated in the end. There's only one dream he really, really wants fulfilled, and it's to be just like his father one day and solve crimes together. He doesn't need a wish for that - not when he knows he can be anything he wants to be if he works really hard.
So maybe, he'll dream even bigger than that and maybe he'll dream about being god instead. Then every day could be sunny and warm, and every night there could be meteor showers.
Smiling, he hops off the bench and reaches over to help Misa gather her belongings.]
Mr. Star better work hard for me, then.
