[Which would be nice had he asked for the company, but because he never did, Light gives Misa a curious little look before shifting his gaze back up to the sky. Of course, he's noticed this behavior in others, like somehow people are allergic to the prospect of being alone, but Light's never minded it much. Being trusted to mind his own business and manage his own time is a privilege, isn't it? Plus, it means he always gets to do exactly what he wants.]

Are you scared of being alone?

[It's an earnest question. It's a scary world out there, after all ]

Of course!

[ Who would like being alone? Misa loved attention and loved making people happy. That was what made her happy. She hated not being the center of attention. And because she was so cute she had a lot of it. She couldn't imagine not having a lot of it.]

Well ... maybe not scared! But Misa doesn't like being alone. Mommy said it is dangerous because Misa is so cute.

Do you think so too?

[Light... sees where this is going, and isn't entirely sure he likes it. Not wanting to say anything to agree or disagree for the time being, he hedges the question a little, feeling just a tiny bit uncomfortable again.]

Do I think you're cute or do I think it's dangerous because you're cute?

[ Oppsies. It seems he caught that. Not entirely surprising since he always seemed so smart. In fact, maybe that was why she liked him in a way. He was really smart.

She shook her head to erase that thought though. She already decided that she was going to marry Kimura Takuya.

Do you think it is dangerous for me because I am cute?

[Erk, she is definitely fishing for compliments, and Light has no idea why she's doing this to him right now. It's a little frustrating that she has to do this while there's a meteor shower happening that he wants to watch in peace.]

Mm. [Feeling distinctly fidgety, Light aims for diplomacy in the hopes that it'll suffice because he doesn't actually know what he's supposed to say.]

Maybe? But it's dangerous for everyone that looks like an easy target for criminals.

[ Don't worry, Light. She does this with everyone and not just you. She was not used to people not biting her bait. It usually came quite naturally. Who would ever expect someone so young to be so skilled in that art?

Probably someone that could actually be as skilled as her.

She looked up and actually stayed quiet for a few minutes to enjoy the meteor shower. ]

Ne, Light?

[The silence is a blessing while it lasts, and Light is quietly relieved that there aren't any follow up questions. He watches the stars with continued wonderment, eyes round with awe. By the time Misa speaks, he's back to feeling content.]

What?

[ She closed her eyes and smile. Misa was content as well. There was no way she couldn't be glad to see something like that. It put her in such a good mood that she decided to do something else that was nice. ]

Misa knows that you don't believe in that kind of thing ...

... so Misa made a wish for you too. Since Misa is nice that way.

[That throws Light and fairly obviously at that. Blinking in surprise, he gives Misa a curious glance, as if trying to figure out what this is really about. Not that he thinks of her as a bad person - she has been nice despite her insistence, but it seems bizarre to make wishes for strangers. Although, now that he's thinking about it, maybe he should have wished something for his mom, dad and Sayu...

Feeling oddly guilty about this lack of foresight even though he shouldn't because wishing on stars doesn't work anyway, Light makes a quick secret wish for all three of them.]

What kind of wish?

[ The shower was over and Misa knew that it was really time to go home and say goodbye to her new friend Light. She began putting her things and snacks away. She had to get back before her parents notice that she was gone. Her mother wouldn't be happy that she stayed up late before a photoshoot. ]

I didn't know what you want ... so I just told Mr. Star that I wish all your dreams come true!

[The tiniest of creases appears in LIght's brow as he considers that multipurpose and surprisingly efficient wish. Multiple wishes on one star? It seems a little like rule breaking, which he likes just as much as he likes pleasing his mother by showing off how well behaved he can be.

But his wish isn't that complicated in the end. There's only one dream he really, really wants fulfilled, and it's to be just like his father one day and solve crimes together. He doesn't need a wish for that - not when he knows he can be anything he wants to be if he works really hard.

So maybe, he'll dream even bigger than that and maybe he'll dream about being god instead. Then every day could be sunny and warm, and every night there could be meteor showers.

Smiling, he hops off the bench and reaches over to help Misa gather her belongings.]

Mr. Star better work hard for me, then.
