[Pitch always looked forward to lunar eclipses. And this lunar eclipse was no different.

The spirit appears in the shadows near a grassy tall hill. He races up the hill to get the best view he could manage of the event. His smile widened as he looks on eagerly, taking a seat down in the sand, his chin resting on the bases of his wrists, elbows on his crossed knees.

Someone was a little too excited about lunar eclipses, and was rather oblivious of anyone else nearby.]

[It's been a few weeks since he saw her last. He's had trouble not thinking about Alice, because she was intriguing, and because she had light fingers, and because - he doesn't know. Something about her. He wants to see her again. He wants to see her again.]

[He's surprised when he sees her here, in the Enchanted Forest, but pleased, as well - some kind of electric thrill chases his surprise up his spine and lands at the smirk on his lips, settles in. He walks up behind her, standing on a grassy knoll and looking up at the moon, and leans forward slightly.]

Fancy meeting you here.

(Keep moving. That was how she survived. One job after another, collect the reward and then move on. Slowing down was dangerous, and stopping entirely got you killed. Except she couldn't seem to force herself to move just yet.

The prize had been handed off and, with her pockets satisfyingly heavy, her mind had begun to wander (a dangerous thing for anybody, and moreso for people like them) to the man with that wicked smile and a skill that rivaled his ego.

When she had stopped moving she couldn't quite say, but eventually her gaze had wandered up to the sky. The moon shone brilliantly, illuminating the forest and laying bare the way the corners of her lips twitched up at the sound of his voice)

A lucky coincidence. (For you)

[He had no intention of echoing her thoughts, but he was an honest man. Let no one ever say he was - more than once.]

[Trouble was, as he stepped to her side and cast his eyes at her, he saw that the moon caught her hair just so first and that she looked decidedly pleased with herself second. Getting his priorities all mixed up. Didn't know what to do with himself.]

[Well, that was sort of a lie. He did know.]

I would ask if you've been keeping busy, but I can tell by the look on your face that you have. Ransacked something lovely, I hope.

I'd even go so far as to call it breathtaking.

(Doubtless it was, though it was the payday that had been truly awe inspiring. Allowing herself a quick glance up at him, there was no outward reaction. Her smirk remained fixed firmly in place.

It was a simple mistake. Tiny, and barely noticeable. Her gaze lingered too long.

He was supposed to be nothing more than an inconvenience, she ought to have brushed him away the way she would a fly instead of carrying on a conversation)

I'm sure you've found plenty to keep you occupied as well. You don't strike me as the type who enjoys being idle.

[And that's apparently enough to have him stop starting their campfire. Knife and flint set aside, he peers up at the cluster of stars above.]

Milady. Do remind me to recommend to your lord brother a more reputable astrology teacher.

[Really? A griffon's...?

He'd wager his honor Vaike passed along such misinformation.]

That there is Constellation Orion.

[Oh. He caught that gaze, held it, fairly dared her to look away. His eyes danced with mirth and malice and so much interest, lips quirked wickedly. She was lovely. He could say that to himself without giving too much away.]

[Just better not to look at her mouth.]

I'm never idle, Alice. Hands always busy, one way or another. At this moment my pockets are empty, but you should have seen me an hour ago.

[It was a careless boast, something to occupy his mouth while he watched her. Didn't matter how she took it, didn't really matter what either of them said. He was just happy she was looking at him.]

There, that's the one I was named after!

[Orihime points up at Vega, her expression proud. It's been a long time since she's looked at the stars so enthusiastically. Looking at them with an intelligent robot probably has something to do with that.]

[ david follows the trajectory of orihime's hand placidly, mapping out the heavens in his mind while doing some easy fact recall-- he's programmed for international assimilation, and thus the reference comes easy to him. orihime and hikoboshi, star-crossed lovers bound in tragedy. ]

Your name has quite romantic connotations.

It does! It's a little unfitting though, don't you think?

[While she knew plenty of unrequited love, one could hardly label her as a romantic. Her daydreams were goofy and happy things. She was far more likely to wrestle a thug instead of kiss a lover in her idle fantasies.]

I'm impressed you knew it. You're so educated, David-san!

[ he pauses after her statement, assessing it and matching it with the myriad of emotions and nonverbal cues that he knows to be human responses to a given situation. at first, he's inclined to think that it's patronizing, but he can't detect the sarcasm that should be there if she's trying to jab at him. so he discards that notion and replaces it with the idea that she might actually be being sincere. ]

I couldn't say if the name is unfitting, Miss Orihime. But as for my knowing the reference, I can hardly say that it's surprising, given the nature of my programming.

I'm glad, really! I mean, I wasn't sure how much you started out with. I'm happy you learned folklore too!

[She beams proudly up at him, then looks back to the sky.]

Actually, you probably know more about these constellations than I do. We studied astronomy, but not the legends behind the patterns. I know Sirius is also the big dog, and that other star is the little dog, but beyond that...

[Orihime shrugs helplessly.]

[Ami had come prepared, of course. She had hot drinks in tightly-sealed thermoses, a thick blanket waterproofed to keep out the night damp from the ground, and even a small pocket telescope for slightly better viewing, which she held out to Chibiusa.]

Right there. You can see the brightest stars in that constellation easily right now. [She gently guided the angle of view to the proper spot.]

[huddled under the blanket and with a huge and dusty volume spread open in front of her, Chibiusa takes the telescope excitedly and gasps in wonder at the sight.]

Oh, that's Andromeda! Right?

[suddenly serious and frowning, she looks at Ami]

You were right the first time. [which elicits a proud smile from Ami, like a teacher to a favorite student.] You're a very diligent learner, aren't you, Chibiusa-chan?

[ it's a Friday night and the two of them—Totsuka had went home already—were on the roof of the bar—Mrs. Suoh had called that she wouldn't be coming home due to her working another shift and had asked if Izumo and his uncle wouldn't mind having Mikoto over for the night and both said yes—looking up at the night sky. Despite how urbanized Shizume City is, the fact that the government kept the city looking clean with no traces of smog hovering over the place was actually a good thing as it meant none of them have to go to the outskirts of the city just to look at stars.

Speaking of stars, there were plenty of them right now, forming all sorts of patterns that Izumo is sure he knows from his astronomy books. When one pattern catches his eye, his nudges Mikoto with a shoulder and points up ]

Hey, Mikoto. See that one?
